Lonliness ~ Scans & Heelys

Loneliness of the night shift I don’t know how many of you have worked nights before; it’s an experience for sure, not to bad when you’re working with someone else, but a long and lonely night when you’re on your own, and im bloody hungry. way back when i was an apprentice we used to do 3 shift rotations, front shift or 06:00 to 14:00, Back shift 14:00 to 22:00, or nights 22:00 to 06:00, by far the front shift was the best in summer, and a bitch in winter when you were getting up at 04:45 every morning, but at least it worked on rotation basis, Anyway no matter how many times i do nights i still cant get used to it, maybe its me but each one gets harder to do, as i sit here now typing i’ve been doing Tech Support for a big event tomorrow or should i say today, they start at 06:00 so there is no point going home so if im lucky i will be home by 15:00 not bad only a 19 hour shift. Dana has been ill lately with pains in her stomach, I’ll be honest i was and still am scared, Having seen her nearly die, im still suffering the after-effects of that, so i was nervous when she had to go for another scan on Monday, its hard to describe the feeling, it really is i’ve seen mates killed or badly injured when i was Despatch Rider and it really did not bother me, but this is different, i suppose it came as such a shock last time, that i never really had time to get it our of my system, its been described very much like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Anyway the good news is that the scans appear to be clear, which is good news and i was really somewhat relived, we are just awaiting the report from the radiologist to see what he says. My Daughter has got a pair of “HEELYS” these are basically trainers with wheels on the heel end, Guess that’s whey they call them Heelys then!, anyway she got them from the states, and have not been off her feet since, there is nothing like watching your 10 year old Daughter screaming by the front window looking completely out of control to give you that feeling of “I can see a trip to Casualty” moment. Have to say they look great fun, and are supposed to be the hottest selling things in the shops this year, so i guess the local A&E departments will be overrun on Christmas day. Might get some for work we have one corridor that is just less than 130 Meters long, bet you could get some great speed up, knowing our luck just as we rocket by the lift door the General Manager will step out.
