Great Day Out

Yesterday was one of the normal trips across to see my Mum and Dad, it was a very enjoyable trip out, after getting there around 10:30 my mum then proceeded to pile the dinning room table with round after round of bacon sandwiches and sausages sandwich’s.

One of the reason i need to go across was because a close friend of Mum and Dads had a brought a digital camera like my Sanyo, but was having trouble getting it to work correctly, after numerous emails and even the lady going back to the shop to see if they could get it working, the issue was that when played back on the TV, via the camera it was in Black and White, well after about 5 mins i found she had the setting of the camera Output set to NTSC, so after a quick adjustment all was well, then my mum says your dads Pc is not working, Then he tells me it just went Crack and stopped working, so guess that’s one im going to have to rebuilt.

Anyway we thought we would go for a drive out as it was quite nice, headed for Redcar i wanted to show my boys the biggest blast furnace in the world, which is at Redcar, when i was colleague you could see them venting it at night time, it would light up the area big time,

i managed to find a overhead photo of it which shows the size of the operation.

We then head off to Saltburn which is a great little seaside town, Saltburn has a tram powered by water, In the 1880’s this was the height of transport for the rich staying in the Zetland hotel.

both trams have a massive water tank underneath the passenger area, the tank would be filled up, until it was just heavier than the tram at the bottom, then along with its passengers, they would release the breaks and it would slowly move down the track lifting the other tram and passengers to the top, and then they would pump the water back up to the top ready for the other tram and its passengers to come down.

This tram system has been used for years, even when i was a nipper people used to line up to ride on it.As you can see from the photos the bank is very steep,

Check out the video to see it in operation.
